There are many potential applications for an interactive US map. Many government websites use United States maps of counties to show census data (e.g. highest-income counties), geography of recession, employment gains or losses by county, map of bank failures, election results etc. Business websites use interactive maps to show branch offices, sales figures by states, driving directions, traveling route maps, or as store locator, property finder, to improve the easiness of website navigation. With an interactive U.S. map showing all states and counties, visitors can firstly click on a state (e.g. New York, Florida) from the map, see a map with counties within that state. Visitors can then simply roll the mouse cursor over a county on the map and the information about that county will show in a pop up box instantly, with text, images and hyperlinks. Then the visitor can click the links in the tool tip to get further information or redirected to a corresponding page.
In addition to the traditional ways of getting maps, another source that has become very popular, are on the internet maps. Using a selection of sites, all one needs to do is type in the beginning point and the end point and a atlas in the same way as driving directions can be printed up. This can be very valuable to anyone who is traveling last minutes and does not have the time to find maps other ways. If you are intending to rent a car, talk to the renting a car agency. They too can be very helpful in getting travel maps for practically any destination, or general guidelines. If the trip involves traveling by plane, nearly any gift shop in every airport has some type of travel map available.
There are other options worth knowing about: firstly the Active Maps which come in both Landranger and Explorer ranges and have a laminated, waterproof cover to protect your map from the rain and elements when out and about; secondly there are the custom-made maps which allow you to choose where the centre of your map will be. These are particularly handy if the route you want to follow will require buying 2 or more maps or you want maps of the countryside surrounding one central point on all sides e.g. the area around a campsite or accommodation or even your house! Both types of map are more expensive than basic OS Explore and OS Landranger maps. Check your whole walk area is covered: Select the type of map you require and then check on the map detail that your whole route is covered. The last thing you want is to realise that half your intended route is missing when you set off for your walk! If necessary you will need to get additional maps for adjoining areas. Each map has a number in the top right hand corner of the cover which along with the name is the reference you will need to select the correct map to purchase.
While Map Messaging services have additional features such as: the immediate receipt of acknowledgment or reply, group chatting, conference services (including voice and video), conversation logging and file transfer in Real-time map application (GPassenger) and Mobility application (MobilePassenger). MIMS allows effective and efficient communication, featuring immediate receipt of acknowledgment or reply. It is possible to save a conversation for later reference. Instant messages are typically logged in a local message history which closes the gap to the persistent nature of maps and facilitates quick exchange of information like URLs or document snippets (which can be unwieldy when communicated via IM) than (Mapsignal).

Mind mapping in marketing, technical writing and PR Twenty years ago, before I became a copywriter based in Gloucestershire, England, I discovered mind mapping, got hooked and soon started using this simple tool in my marketing, technical writing and PR work. For example, when you use these maps on finding the cheap hotels, or specific restaurants on a certain area, these places will be plotted on the map to give you the idea where they are exactly. Then once you have chosen the best place you want to go to, you can ask the maps to give you driving directions. Live Traffic reports may also be available to set your expectations. Once your customized map is in place, print it, and you are off to go. And with Yahoo! Maps and Mapquest, you also have options to send the map to your phone or car. If you want to know the estimated time to travel by just walking, Google Maps give you such feature. It also give you directions using public transportation systems. So far, the public transit feature is mostly available in metropolitan areas. Aerial Map or the Satellite View images of the area is another common feature. Once you zoom in a place with the aerial view, youll get to see the contour of the mountains, which parts are mostly covered with plants, and know which areas are more populated. But aside from Satellite View, birds eye view is also available in Live Maps, as well as 3D map within Live Maps. Google Maps, on the other hand, is known now for its Street View maps. It offers it users street photos as if they are really driving or walking on the street. It wont be too long though that Live Maps may also offer such feature.
