Conformal projection: These projections maintain angular relationships and show accurate shapes while covering small areas. Such maps are useful for navigational or meteorological purposes where angular relationships are important. Equidistant projection: Maps that maintain accurate distances along given lines or from the center of the projection are based on this principle of equidistant projection. Such maps are used for navigation and for radio and seismic mapping. The Equirectangular projection and the Equidistant Conic projection are two examples of this category. Azimuthal (or zenithal) projection: A projection that maintains accurate angular relationships and directions from a given central point use this projection. Maps for aeronautical purposes use this principle. The Lambert Azimuthal Equal-Area projection and the Gnomonic projection are examples of how azimuthal projection is used for map making.
How to Read a GPS Mapping System The most common way for a GPS receiver to display your global location is with a plot screen, using a series of waypoints in the area. So that you can track your position logically, you should always set the plot screen directions so that north is up, or towards the top of your device so it reads like a map. The device will allow you to navigate through the GPS map, zooming in and out or even shifting the maps location. The GPS database will allow you to save various waypoints, typically at least one hundred, and label them with brief descriptions. Your waypoints and their names can help plan routes quickly in the future.GPS devices come with a map datum already installed. This is a basic representation of the land formations in the country or area where the unit was designed. GPS units manufactured in the United States are installed with North American map datum, so it is necessary to install additional software if the unit will be used outside the country.

Presumably, after that, the app will purge a saved map to clear up space on your device. You can also do the automatic updating with the Google map nowadays. Just go to the Offline Maps settings and activate automatic updates. This will ensure your offline maps are regularly updated when expired. You can even choose only to be updated when using Wi-Fi, ensuring your precious gigabytes dont go to waste.

The association map, in its simplest form, is just two keywords with a defined link. In terms of looks the diagrams are similar to a non-linear mind map, but structurally they have the more formal requirements of the concept map. The key point from a learning view, is that the relationship between the two keywords must always be clearly defined. A keyword may have many links to other keywords, but each pairing must have this well-defined link association. I have found the decisions one must make about these relationships have been some of the most useful in helping a student to overcome a misunderstanding, and in designing learning packages so that learners move more easily through a topic. Linking the unknown to the known has been a useful teaching strategy since time immemorial, and the association map is a particularly powerful way of tapping into this for some students.
